LYRICA

(Pregabalin)

 

General Guidelines:

Adequate trial at a given dose might take 4-6 weeks

Minimize side effects:

  • Start at lower dose --- then increase dose slowly
  • Adverse effects experienced by some patients include sedation and dizziness, which tend to improve and resolve during the initial period of use.
 
  • Consider combining treatment with Lyrica with another class of drug used to treat neuropathic pain (e.g. Cymbalta)

 

Dosage Schedule

Maximum Total Daily

Dose

Week 1-   50 mg  TID

150 mg

Week 2 -   100 mg  TID

300 mg

 

 

Side effects of LYRICA:

  • Dizziness
  • Sleepiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Swelling of hands and feet
  • Blurry vision
  • Weight gain
  • Trouble concentrating
